I'm a person centred counsellor and psychotherapist. I've trained and worked in a clinical setting working with adults, families, teenagers and children therapeutically over the last 4 years whilst also establishing my private practice.
Working with stress, anxiety, trauma, family relationships, bereavement, life tensions (see website) . I'm a registered member of the bacp ( British association for counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their strict code of confidentiality and 'Ethical Framework.' 2018.
I am also on the approved register of 'Counselling Directory' and 'Psychology Today' where mental health professionals turn to find an approved, qualified and verified therapist.
I guess what's perhaps a little different & unique about me is that I am also an art teacher, working with young children and have been working in a school for over 12 years teaching art as a specialist subject.
This means that in my therapeutic practise I can also work creatively through art with all ages. The main discipline is a talking therapy, however, a person centred approach means just that... Its about the person, so if clients wish to express their inner world/ difficulties artistically and creatively , I can work with my clients this way too, through art, imagery, metaphor, music, creative play ( children).
Many clients in response to covid are now working remotely via video call. This is also a very successful way to work. It offers an extra layer of comfort and confidentiality and convenience for many clients. They can connect with me from the comfort of their own home without trying to fit in extra journeys and appointments. Many work from their car or find a place to go to such as a park or outside space where they feel relaxed. It really is a therapy service which is totally tailored to the unique and different needs of my clients.
I also continue to work face to face from my private practice in the traditional counselling sessions.
I have recently established a private practice in Saddleworth after spending many happy times personally, over the last 4 years in the area. I have enjoyed the Whit band contests and local artisan crafts, Yanks weekend and Rushcart. Also growing up in Cumbria, I love walking and have enjoyed exploring the moors and surrounding countryside Saddleworth has to offer.
